Can a Nissan GT-R do an 8 Second Quarter Mile?

I’m not even going to bother setting this video up.  All you have to do is press play and be prepared to be amazed, as tuning shop AMS Performance shows off their latest insane creation.  The Alpha 12 Nissan GT-R is tuned to a tarmac shredding 1,318 horsepower running on a mere 35 PSI of boost.

Check out more of AMS Performance parts and services on their site: http://www.amsperformance.com/index.php

Other info provided by AMS Performance:

History has been made! On Tuesday July 26th our AMS ALPHA 12 GT-R went back to the track with a little more favorable weather conditions. The result was the World’s First 8 Second R35 GT-R!

Even with a 1.668 60 foot time, the ALPHA 12 driven by our own Special Projects Technician, Ivan Phipps, went 8.975@169.49 mph!

60 foot 1.668
330ft 4.166
1/8th mile 6.042
1/8 mph 132.74
1000ft 7.634
1/4 8.975
1/4 mph 169.49

In addition the 60-130 time record was broken again with a 3.34 second blast from 60-130mph!! This makes the AMS Alpha 12 GT-R the fastest recorded street car to date from 60-130 mph!!!

Not bad for a true street car with air conditioning and all the other amenities of a GTR. You can drive this car to the store or across the country!

Chief Instructor of the Nurburgring Driving Academy Takes a Hotlap

I have started to type this blog after only watching the first 2 minutes of this amazing Nurburgring time trial lap video.  I can honestly say that I have never seen such car control around the famous Green Hell, and in the wet no less.  There are countless times when the back end seems like it is going to step out into a full blown spin.  However in the same amount of time that it takes the rear end to step out Andreas has the ability to ever so gently back off on the gas or touch the brakes to get it back in line with the front wheels.

There is no mention of how fast the lap is or how many times the chief instructor of the Nurburgring driving academy has been out on the track however I suspect that he may only be a couple of laps behind Sabine Schmitz.
