This is two days in a row that we have had an automaker debut one of its Frankfurt Motor Show cars ahead of schedule. Today we have the 2012 Ferrari 458 Spider being introduced to the buying public through the posting of a video on YouTube.
The new 458 Spider is not using a traditional soft folding top, instead they have engineered an all aluminum folding hard top. The advantage is that the hard top actually weighs 25 pounds less than the soft top that they were designing. The roof can be raised or lowered in a meer 14 seconds and a new rear section of the car has been developed to better optimize the air flow at speed. Check it out in the video below as it neatly tucks its self away ahead of the engine bay.
All of the other bells and whistles can still be found on the spider as in the 458 Italia. Which means that the car can still has the same 4.5-liter direct injection engine and dual clutch transmission.
