Confirmation video, yes it is possible to make a Bugatti Veyron out of A4 paper

Our video of the day to day showcases how to make a 2.5 foot long paper model of the most powerful super car ever produced.  The Bugatti Veyron is holds the records for being one of the most expensive and fastest super cars ever produced and now it is shooting for another title.

The company Papercraft is hoping that it will become the most downloaded car paper replica pattern found on the internet. To help drum up some publicity for the create your own Veyron model kit Papercraft has produced a video showing just how easy it can be to turn 44 pages of A4 8 ½ by 11 sheets of paper into a super car.

Enjoy and if you are interested in downloading the design you can find the link through the Vimeo video player.

To see the work that Papercraft did for Audi of America click this link to an article that we posted a year ago. In that Video 285 sheets of paper were used however it does even include the A7’s interior with pop up Navigation system. “Paper Model A7 time-lapse Car Video

1967 Eleanor Mustang meets Stunning Woman in one Hot Video

This is video is beautifully shot and has left us with an internal debate as to which is more attractive the refinished 1967 Eleanor Mustang or the Beautiful woman who eventually get to take it out for a drive. We are fans of old cars that get retrofitted to include new tech and safety features to truly become the performance cars that they should have been and not the muscle car messes that were popular at the time of their production.

We have to complement eGarage on this video as well as highlight the fact that this is now their second appearance here at Car Rolodex. If you’d like to see their previous video that we felt met the grade you can find it at this link here: Visit a Pagani Huayra at the Factory and on the Road

McLaren’s F1 successor – Big Daddy Mac P1 is spied shakedown testing

We like to send a special shout out to Left Lane news who posted and nicely plastered their logo onto all of the spy shots as without them McLarens development of a new hyper car would just be pie in the sky kind of talk. The McLaren P1 (as it is being called these days) will be the brands newest halo car and is the spiritual successor to the awesome McLaren F1 of the late 90’s. This would then by default also make it the McLaren MP4-12C’s big brother and it would require it to step up its performance game to outperform that 21 century thoroughbred.

McLaren’s F1 successor the P1 – Front 3/4

As you can see from the parts of the P1 that are visible, it will be adopting many of the styling cues from the MP4-12C. To our untrained eye it looks to have similar body lines and contours from the passenger cell back to that of the Pagani Huayra. The P1 also appears to have a rear facing cannon in the spot where the exhaust pipes would normally go and we are looking forward to the first promo video showing the car spitting fire rear wards as it down shifts going into a corner.

Up top of the passenger compartment we see signs of what appears to be a design cue carried over from the legendary F1 car. As it appears that there is a roof mounted air intake. The type of engine that will be used in the P1 is still up in the air and we can understand if they decided to recycle the MP4-12C’s 3.8–liter twin turbo V8 unit as it does only produce a mind altering 592hp and 443 lb-ft of torque.

McLaren’s F1 successor the P1 – Side

There was a rumor 5 months ago that they were working on a new 5.0-liter V8 for the P12. We are now hearing that they are more in favor of using their already developed V8 and pair it with a KERS energy storage system that could boost the cars total output to as much as 800 hp. This would put it in the same class as the new Ferrari Enzo II and the Porsche 918 Spyder and surpass other hyper cars like the Lamborghini Aventador and Pagani Huayra.

That kind of power means the reborn F1 will be able to accelerate for 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds and from 0-100 mph in just 5.5 seconds. Amazingly, the car will be able to go from a standstill to 200 mph in as little as 20 seconds. The engine would only be one half of the speed equation with the other being the use of light weight composite materials that will keep the cars overall curb weight down. The P1 is expected to include a revised Hydraulic anti-roll control, active dampers and an advanced traction control system all borrowed from its younger brother the MP4-12C. It should also include other cutting edge F1 racing technology like pushrod suspension similar to the system that we first saw on the Lamborghini Aventador.

All of this technology won’t come cheap though as the estimated starting price to acquire one of the 500 Big Daddy Mac’s that are going to be produced has been estimated at 1.5 million dollars. A concept version of the car is expected to debut sometime this year with production versions of the car set to hit street in 2014.

An Amazing Trial Moto Bike Free Riding Video in Rio de Janeiro’s

We are running some tight deadlines on our one of our other ventures so today we are just posting a quick video blast. Don’t think that we are skimping on the quality though as you are about to see this clip is utterly mind blowing.  The rider is Moto Trial Athlete Julien Dupont who is a Red Bull team rider and his skill set is second to none. Dupont’s antics through city streets and their many obstacles – stairs, poles, walls and cars – are impressive and worth devoting the 2 minutes 15 seconds to appreciate.

Lamborghini wins the prize for the greatest unrelated car release video ever made

Lamborghini has released a video entitled “A New Born Lamborghini: The Channeling of the Four Elements,” and the company says it’s a preview for a model. After watching the video we can only think that they have decided to market to Zeus himself as no mere mortal would be bold or brave enough to drive any vehicle that was made of the elements in this video.

This CGI spectacular seems to be more like an outtake from a movie from the latest Titans movie than a car promo video. If you don’t believe us check out the minute and half short below and let us know in the comment section exactly what you think Lamborghini is attempting to sell.

Ken Block Gymkhana XXS Video

This is by far one of the most creative videos we have seen this month and I think that it would be the perfect way to end your work week. In the past we have seen all kinds of unique interpretations of Ken Block and all that DC shoes has created in his image. However we think that this one is the best so far. There is no trick photography or tilt-shift lenses being used in the video everything you are seeing is real RC driving.

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all have a great weekend and we will catch up with you all next week.

Lamborghini Urus Crossover SUV Concept - Dash

As we stated two and half months ago we could see this soft roader receiving the brand’s V10, and a TDI diesel engine. If the engine bay is too small they may just shoe horn in the Twin Turbo V8 found in the new Bentley Continental GT and Audi S8/S7.

We are hopeful that Lamborghini will let us know potential power train options when the Urus SUV Concept is debuted at Auto China in Beijing next week. Stay tuned as we intend to bring you all of the meaty details next week.

A Sneak Peak Preview of the 2014 BMW M3

There are very few cars on this planet with the pedigree of the BMW M3. From the very first generation the M3 was intended to be a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Its mantra was to resemble a stock 3-Series coupe while providing its driver with the best handling and performing car in its class. In order to ensure that this formula could be met just about every feature that is hidden behind the cars sheet metal is subject to improvement by BMW’s M division.

This same mind set will also be the reason why the 2014 BMW M3 will be yet another ground breaking vehicle. When it does finally arrive for purchase in North American BMW dealerships, one thing is for sure it will have a brand new 6-cylinder engine under the hood. Although initial rumors pointed us in the direction of M3 being powered by a tri-turbo inline-6, we are now seeing evidence in the form of BMW patent filings that V6 is going to power the legend.

2014 BMW M3 - Speculative Rendering of the Front 3/4

I know what you’re thinking, and yes it is true; a highly advanced 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 is being developed. The new engine will not be a down sized version of the M5’s engine like the V8 found in the current M3. In that car the 4.0-liter V8 power plant was identical to the V10 found in the M5 with the exception of slicing off the 2 end cylinders. The current twin turbo honey pot that is used in the M5 is a 4.4-liter unit which would make a downsized V6 a 3.2 or round up to a 3.3-liter unit. However these figures have never surfaced in all of our research, so we are sticking with the claim that it will be a 3.0-liter twin-scroll unit.

It would be safe to say that the new V6 engine will be on par with the high revving V8 that it is set to replace and we have seen the figures of 430hp and 405 lb-ft or torque being tossed around. If these figures do prove to be correct the engine should be a beast boasting more hp and a ton more torque then the outgoing M3 power plant. Although we doubt that the V6 with its turbo mufflers on will sound as sweet as the V8, especially at 7,000 RPM. This kind of power would also seem sufficient enough to fend of the cars rivals of the Audi RS4, Mercedes C63 AMG and Lexus IS-F.

2014 BMW M3 - Speculative Rendering of the Rear 3/4

Sticking with the trend of upgrading components that the average driving will never see it is expected that the new M3 will receive light weight carbon-ceramic disc brakes and all aluminum calipers. Saving the car about 35 pounds while dramatically improving its stopping distances and reducing brake fade. Other weight saving measures would include many light weight carbon body panels, titanium mufflers and aluminum wiring instead of traditional heavier copper. Don’t tell and car enthusiasts as we are also reading that unlike the M5 the M3 could also employ electric power steering, Gasp I know. But Porsche was very successful with its new electric steering in the new 911 and the diehard Porschephile’s aren’t screaming too loud about it.

When the new M3 sedan and M4 Coupe are debuted next year we will find out just how successful BMW’s M-Division engineers were at the balancing act facing new performance cars in today’s “lower emission”, and “increased fuel economy world”. We are expecting that at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show will be when these two 3-Series halo cars are presented to the world. So circle that data on your calendar as it will also be the data when we find out if it is possible to reduce a cars CO2 emissions, reduce its thirst for fuel, and reduce its 0-100 acceleration times.

Interested in a family friendly TT-RS? Check out the Audi RS Q3 concept

It was announced today that Audi will be presenting a concept version of a souped up Q3 SUV at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show. We could easily see this SUV concept heading straight into production as the enhancements are more than skin deep but rely heavily on the existing Audi Quattro parts bin.

Audi RS Q3 Concept - Front 3/4 shot

The RS Q3 is powered by the same engine as the 2012 Audi TT-RS. For those not familiar with the TT-RS’ specs you may be interested in knowing that this turbocharged 2.5-liter inline 5 power plant is capable of producing 360hp and sends all of that power to all 4 wheels through a 7-speed S-tronic dual clutch transmission. To help back up the Q3’s performance image it has been lowered an inch or 25mm for us metric Canadians. Audi is claiming that the RS Q3 concept would be able to rocket from a standstill to 100km/h in 5.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 265 km/h.

The exterior of this Q3 on steroids also shows that this compact SUV means business with its upsized 255/30/20R tires, a redesigned front bumper and grille trim, complement the bold crease lines on the larger front air intakes that increase air flow to the larger brakes and intercooler. The pumped-up softroader also features several RS-themed styling cues, such as a blacked out honey comb grille and slightly tinted headlights and of course no RS would be complete without a redesigned rear air diffuser.
