Without a doubt this is the greatest BMW M5 commercial ever. We are still looking into claims that this is all CGI and not really captured with super slow motion cameras however with our decreeing eyes it look more then real enough for use. Now the engine sound being pumped into the cabin that’s another mater all together. We’ll save that diatribe for another posting on another day. Feel free to weight in with your option in the comments section below.
The eye catchingly beauty that they are calling the 2013 Ford Fusion, has been announced to be on sale in the States on September 3rd. I almost can’t believe I just wrote that down but in case of this Ford was actually for the first time ever believe it. The ford corporate web site has yet to confirm this launch date but we have in on good authority from US dealerships that they have placed their orders and the cars will be on their lots by then.
2013 Ford Fusion – Head On and Looking Fierce
We are fully expecting the pricing of all existing 2012 models to be dramatically cut as only a blind man would consider purchasing one of those cars after seeing what could be his if he waited 2 more months. The new 2013 Ford Mondeo errr Aston martin Fusion, no wait sorry, the Ford Fusion will not only be easier on the eyes but it will also be slightly easier on the wallet as overall fuel consumption numbers will be lower. This can be attributed to the 177 hp 2.5-liter 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, the 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbo that offers 237 hp in addition to the Edges’ and Taurus’ 3.5-liter V6 that offers up 263 hp.
We hope that by the 2014 North America International Auto Show they will be announcing an SHO version that will use the 3.5-liter Twin-turbo V6 which produces 365 hp. You will have to trust us when we say that nothing goes better with a cars good looks then increasing it horsepower.

We have received confirmation that the Jeep Grand Cherokee will have an abbreviated model year in 2013 to make way for an ahead of scheduled comprehensive model update for 2014. The 2014 models will apparently be in Jeep showrooms by early 2013 with the estimates shelf life of the 2013 models only being 4-6 months.
2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee – In its native environment, the woods
The cause for this shortened 2013 model run can be attributed to the Chrysler wanting to make a big splash with the announcement of the reintroduction of the CRD model, which will feature a Fiat sourced 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 that we blogged about a couple months back. (You can read that article here: “Chrysler announces 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee will receive Diesel Engine“) In European Grand Cherokee the spark plug-less engine is rated at producing 241 hp and a whooping 406 lb-ft or torque.
Drivers will be sacrificing some horsepower over the current 3.6-liter V6 with 290. It’s hard to imagine that will really be a big deal, though, given how much torque the oil burner offers and the promised increases in fuel mileage. We would expect that increase to be 50 percent or better on the highway, which would negate the price difference between the two fuel types.
The second big improvement will be the addition of the new ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic transmission. Currently it is being included into the 2013 Ram 1500, Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger models that are powered by the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. The new transmission is expected to significantly increase the Grand Cherokee’s fuel economy ratings the way it did for the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger sedans in which it was introduced earlier this year.
2013 Grand Cherokee CRD – Rear 3/4
Personally I get giddy when thinking about having a diesel engine sending its power through an a eight speed gear box, and we are hopeful that the ZF unit can handle all of the torque that the Fiat subsidiary VM Motori sourced engine can produce.
Expect the refreshed Grand Cherokee to be introduced at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this January with it going on sale shortly after that debut.
Like any good Hollywood movie the PR machine starts up about 2 weeks before its release. It seems that Ken Block and his company DC Shoes are no different as yesterday afternoon they posted a teaser video on their YouTube channel promoting Gymkhana 5.
Ken can be seen showing off his impressive doughnut making skills on a barge in the middle of San Francisco Bay, which nicely ties in the fact that Gymkhana 5 was shot entirely in the Hilliest city in North America. If the trailer is any indication #GYM5 will be another big budget affair with visually stunning HD footage being shot at an infinite number of camera angles and locations.
Gymkhana 5 will be hitting the web on July 9th and we will be sure to have it posted here on Car Rolodex. Until then enjoy the Trailer for Gymhkana 5 below
If you can’t wait until the 9th you can enjoy Gymhkana #4 at the below links:
Longstanding Volvo partner Polestar teased the car on Facebook, and the concept made its debut this weekend in Gothenburg, Sweden. Almost every part of the regular Volvo S60 sedan has been upgraded, beginning with the engine. The turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine benefits from larger turbochargers, a new intake manifold, stronger connecting rods, and a new exhaust. Peak outputs are now 508 hp and 424 lb-ft of torque. The S60 Polestar uses a specially upgraded six-speed manual transmission, and a reinforced Haldex all-wheel-drive system.

Polestar says the tweaked S60 will rocket to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds — and on to a top speed of 186 mph. The hottest factory Volvo S60, the 2012 R-Design model, produces 325 hp and 354 lb-ft. Volvo says it will reach 60 mph in 5.5 seconds and manage a comparatively tame 130 mph.

The car shown off in Sweden was a one-off commissioned by a Polestar customer. If there’s sufficient market interest, the company might consider building more copies on a limited basis. Sadly, that means this hotted-up model probably won’t be coming to showrooms in the U.S.
Watch F1 legend David Coulthard and pro-golfer Jake Shepherd set a new world record – farthest golf shot caught in a moving car – with the help of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster. The car caught the ball 275 metres away from the tee.
We also have the behind the scenes footage that Merc or UK released the same day. It is a very enjoyable 10 minutes or so of YouTube delisiousness.
We have found it strange that ever since the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta was introduced to the world, at the 2012 Geneva Auto show, there has been no news or sightings of the prancing pony. Well fortunately that has all changed as we have come across the first video evidence that proves that the car still exists.
The new Ferrari F12 Berlinetta – Front 3/4
If you have forgotten about the F12 Berlinetta’s performance number we can’t blame you as we had to re-look them up as well. Like the 599 that it replaces it will have a naturally aspirated V12 bomb under the hood that was first debuted in the FF. Unlike the FF the F12 will see a bump in power by approximately 80hp, allowing the 6.3-liter V12 to produce 730hp and 510lb-ft of torque, with a 8700rpm redline.
The accumulation of all of these extra horses allow the Berlinetta to turn the 0-100km/h trick in just 3.1 seconds and can accelerate from a standstill to 200km/h in just 8.5 seconds. These are impressive numbers and prove that the car will be a worthy competitor to the Lamborghini Aventador. Ferrari is claiming that the new F12 Berlinetta has top speed of over 211 mph and attributes the cars balanced feel at these high speeds to a slight tweaking of the cars weight distribution. The F12 now receives a 46/54 thanks to a new transaxle F1 style dual-clutch gearbox and rear suspension redesign that reduced weight and included space saving techniques to also improve the car’s trunk volume.

After watching the video one fact that we can confirm is that the F12 Berlinetta knows how to make both the engine and the tires scream as it barrels around the track. If you don’t believe us then click the link below and turn up your speakers.
The fight for pony-car supremacy has been raging for decades. Chevrolet Camaro versus Ford Mustang is a duel without a definitive ending. Battles are fought and won with every new variant and each model year change, yet there’s never enough momentum in any one direction to decide the war. America’s two newest and at the same time, most powerful series-production muscle cars are the 2013 Ford Mustang-based Shelby GT500 and the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.
On paper, the $54,995 Camaro ZL1′s 6.2-liter supercharged V8 produces 580hp at 6,000 rpm and 556 lb-ft. of torque at 4,200 rpm, while the $54,200 Shelby GT500′s 5.8-liter supercharged V8 delivers 662hp at 6,250 rpm and 631 lb-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm.
So how well did they do on the dyno? For that type of info you’ll have to watch the below video or scroll down to the bottom of this article.
.
.
The Camaro ZL1 returned 497 horsepower and 497 lb-ft at the wheels, while the GT500 produced 105 lb-ft and 98 horsepower more at 595hp and 602 lb-ft.
All rumors of the DBS nameplate disappearing as Aston Martin’s top level GT car seem to be true as we now have video evidence of a new Top spec Aston driving around with the name Vanquish on the trunk lid. As you can see for yourself, the next or rather the redesigned DBS, will bring back to life the Vanquish moniker, which was last used on the DBS’ V12-powered predecessor, built from 2001 to 2007.
We can see some similar body lines to the brands hyper car the One-77, which is a very good thing as we are huge fans of that car. For those of you not familiar with the Aston Martin lineup the Vanquish will use a slightly tweaked version of the of the current 6.0-liter V12 engine used by the DBS, which is expected to be tweaked to produce about 550-horses.
AMG is celebrating its 45th anniversary with a 45-unit run of Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG special-edition cars. The 45 SL65 AMGs will have distinctive paint and interior appointments found on no other SLs. The Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG 45th Anniversary model is powered by a 630-hp twin-turbo V-12 producing an electronically limited 737 lb-ft of torque from 2300-4300 rpm. AMG claims the car is capable of reaching 62 mph in 4.0 seconds and is governed at 155 mph.
Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG 45th Anniversary
Mercedes will launch the 45th anniversary model in September. Considering a 2011 SL65 AMG cost about $200,000, if you can find this new special-edition model, expect to pay far more.
See the launch video below and if you ever see one remember that the new Hyundai Veloster also can be purchased with a matte finish so how special is it really?
