Ride Along as Evo Magazine takes the Pagani Huayra out for a Test Drive

We were going to write about the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT today, with its power boost of an extra 20 hp along with its improved transmission tuning. However on Saturday Evo magazine trumped all other car related news with the release of a video documenting the very first Magazine review of the million dollar Pagani Huayra.

The entire car is a work of art even the footage of the image bay made my jaw drop open as it dramatically showed off the AMG-tuned twin-turbo 6.0-liter Mercedes V12 engine. In standard form, the turbocharged 5,980cc V12 will produce 700 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 664 pound-feet of torque from 2,500-4,250 rpm. The Sport version will make 730 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque. AMG adds new pistons, cylinder heads, exhaust manifolds and turbochargers. Horacio Pagani notes this turbocharged powertrain makes it possible to meet air emissions regulations, so he plans to get certification for the U.S. market.

One other cool part of the car that was captured in the video was the cars adaptive aerodynamics which is a series of active flaps in the front and at rear of the car. The flap technology is the same system used in the F117 nighthawk or the Stealth fighter jet uses to keep its unconventional design flying in the air.  In the Huayra’s case the system is used in reverse to maximize down force when the car needs to sick to the ground, like when cornering.  They system still allows the car it to maintaining its streamlined aerodynamic state when blasting to its top speed of 235 mph or 380 km/h.

The Pagani Huayra truly does meet all of the requirements necessary to be considered a true modern day super car.  But don’t take my word for it, watch the video below and establish your own conclusions.
