The German automaker’s flagship model was updated with a new GT variant featuring 583 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque out of its 6.3-liter V8 powerplant. Changes to the suspension and the increased performance allows the SLS AMG GT to deliver faster lap times, and that’s what Coulthard was out to prove.
Coulthard provides some very interesting and insightful commentary on the SLS AMG GT throughout the video, but unfortunately it takes second place to just how awesome the SLS AMG GT sounds.

And now the Milton Keynes–based team has set David Coulthard loose on the streets of New Jersey that will form the 2013 Grand Prix of America. the 2011 Championship-winning RB7 toured Liberty State Park and its spectacular views of the New York City skyline and the Statue of Liberty. The RB7 then moved on to one of the main arteries linking New York and New Jersey – the Lincoln Tunnel. Wrapping up its American vacation, the RB7 became the first Formula One car to lay rubber on the Grand Prix of America streets in West New York and Weehawken, New Jersey, bringing residents out of their homes to catch the historic sight.
Watch F1 legend David Coulthard and pro-golfer Jake Shepherd set a new world record – farthest golf shot caught in a moving car – with the help of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster. The car caught the ball 275 metres away from the tee.

There is nothing quite like watching a car ride along video of the Nurburgring Nordschleife. Now add in 3 F1 drivers and the Awesome Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS and a wet track. As you can see from the video you end up with David Coulthard rolling out of the SLS with his heart pounding away in this throat.
