The Lamborghini Egoista is the latest, craziest concept car featuring an angular stealth like design from the team who work out of the Italian town of Sant’Agata Bolognese. While Lamborghini’s concepts and show cars usually look aggressive and fantastical, this one looks like an Aventador war plane. Launched at a private event on occasion of the brand’s 50th anniversary, this one-seater supercar is nothing less than the automotive equivalent of telling my 3 year old son to design his dream car.
Lamborghini Egoista Concept – Front 3/4
The Egoista has more lines, angles, and edges then what I usually create out of Lego and the car’s true purpose seem more suited to dorm room poster inspiration then the progression of automotive design. The car is fitted with what we in vision to be a Formula 1 nose despite the brand’s lack of recent involvement in the racing series. In addition to an orange-hued canopy worthy of placement in the most ludicrous of Hot Wheels offerings, however Lamborghini prefers to invoke the appearance of an Apache helicopter. As we make our way around to the back of the car we come face to face with a pair of active aero flaps that are positioned just above a pair of overly large exhaust outlets.

The vehicle is crafted from aluminum and carbon fiber, and powered by a centrally mounted 600-hp, 5.2-liter V-10, which is the same engine that motivates Lamborghini’s Gallardo and the Audi R8. The interior is dominated by a racing seat with a four-point harness and a head-up display. The warplane-inspired theme goes all-out on this one, from the filler cap marked “jet fuel” to the clearly marked “step here” areas for cockpit ingress and egress.
Lamborghini Egoista Concept – The Cockpit literally
Regardless of the Egoista’s inspiration, I can say that this is a very fearless design from a company not known for subtlety. Which then makes the real question in need of answering? What’s the price? Could it be more or less than the 4 million dollar Veneno concept car that was introduced to the world back at the Geneva Auto Show?
Lamborghini Egoista Concept – How the Eagles will see it
The Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance has more clout every year and is getting a reputation as Pebble Beach minus the madness. Held in March this year, it celebrated Ducati and the 50-year anniversaries ofLamborghini, the Corvette Sting Ray, Porsche 911 and the Ford GT40.
Justin Lapriore was there, and seemingly everywhere, getting footage of the various wares on display on the lawns and the sand and the runway. The resulting video, Born of a Blue Sky, is a 16-minute survey of some of the finer sights and plenty of engine sounds.
I hope that your all having a good Good Friday and planing on getting together with friends or family. Since we are not in the office today and the are a little burned out on reporting about the new car releases at this years New York International Auto Show. Instead we though we would share our favourite non auto show video, which was created by the Evo Magazine team.
The premiss of the 12 minute short is to discover if the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta can match the GT credentials of the Aston Martin Vanquish and outperform the wild Lamborghini Aventador? Evo staff writer and now video presenter Henry Catchpole heads to the italian Alps to find out.
Happy Easter everyone and enjoy the below short film.
Quite often duplication is the finest form of flattery and in this case it would the idea of using a super or hyper car as an Off-road Rally car. Todays video shows us a Lamborghini Gallardo is filmed taking full advantage of it’s 4-wheel drive system as it slides and shimmies around a gravel/dirt rally stage. In comparison to the Enzo WRC video that we posted prior (Watch that video here: Ferrari Enzo goes Off-Roading), the Gallardo has a much lower replacement cost however that doesn’t mean that the car is any less of a handful to drive fast on a slippery surface.
Check it out below and let us know which Exotic WRC video you prefer.
After a lone image surfaced earlier today, several more pictures have leaked out of the most powerful and most expensive Lamborghini ever produced.
Lamborghini Veneno – Front 3/4
Set to debut tomorrow at the Geneva Motor Show, the Veneno is based on the already awesome Aventador but gets a retuned version of the 6.5-liter V12 engine to make an outrageous 740 hp. All of those horses are then transmitted through Lamborghini’s the familiar seven-speed ISR gearbox and all-wheel-drive system. Lambo says the Veneno’s top speed is 220 miles per hour. Fine by me!
Lamborghini Veneno – Rear Diffuser and Le Mans Style Wing
Pair all of that that with a carbon fiber chassis and a new body sculpted entirely of the light weight material. Not to mention the massive front headlights that look as it there were ripped right out of a Le mans type endure racer and you’ve got a fighter jet on wheels.
Lamborghini Veneno – Undressed from the top down
Just three version of the Veneno are to be built to help celebrate the brand’s 50th anniversary at the astronomical price of £3.1 million, or roughly $4.6 million in our North American money. So there you have it. Instead of being drowned out as background noise to McLaren and Ferrari, Lamborghini just shrugs and throws down its own gauntlet. Which one might argure was also one of the major driving forces in the companies creation back when it was founded 50 years ago.
First details about the production version of the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento are now available. Limited to 20 units, the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento will go into production early next year and it will cost approximately a little of 2 million Euro’s.
Lamborghini Sesto Elemento – On the Streets of Hong Kong
Lamborghini has apparently opened the line where Sesto Elementos will be made, according to Autoblog. The new Lamborghini is reportedly being built in a special production area called the Pre-Series Center, where models that require greater care in building than the “ordinary” Aventadors and Gallardos one-off, limited series models, concept cars, and prototypes/concept cars.
Lamborghini Sesto Elemento – Side Profile
The track-only hypercar will get the same drivetrain as the Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera, consisting of a V10 5.2-liter engine with 560 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque sent to all four wheels through a 6-speed automated manual transmission. With a curb weight of only 2,200 lbs (1000 kg), the Sesto Elemento will sprint to 100 km/h in only 2.5 seconds, before reaching a top speed of more than 186 mph.

The hi-tech interior will remain identical which means the shape of the seat and its position will be customized according to owner. As a reminder, the concept’s seats are part of the carbon fiber monocoque structure and feature cushions on them for added comfort. The production version will feature two individual crash structures (front and rear) with quick-release points to allow an easy removal during maintenance.

It’s not clear, though, whether or not the Sesto Elemento will indeed be Lamborghini’s mysterious 50th anniversary car, that will be on display at the 2013 North American International Auto Show. Production of the Sesto Elemento isn’t expected to begin until later this year.
I cannot tell you how badly I want to be able to drive one of these Aston Martin One-77’s as it truly is sex on wheels. One-77 is the ultimate expression of Aston Martin’s engineering excellence, representing the world’s most desirable automotive art form. The hugely potent 7.3-litre, naturally aspirated V12 engine and the low mass, high-rigidity properties of a carbon fiber chassis give a unique group of 77 owners around the world a driving experience of unrivaled intensity and excitement.
2010 Aston Martin One-77 – Front 3/4
Harry Metcalfe of Evo magazine is one of the most respected automotive journalist in all of the world let alone Britain. In classic Harry fashion he manages to outline all of the high (of which there are many) and low (of which there are few) points of the car in a down to earth and concise manor. I love the car and the noise that its 7.3-liter V12 is capable of making. As always Harry does a master full job of filtering and delivering all of the cars quintessential aspects.
If you don’t have the 14 minutes to watch this film it really is your loose but if you’re interested in the Coles notes I have tabulated them below.
2010 Aston Martin One-77 – Rear 3/4
There are supercars and there are hyper cars and then there are cars like the Aston Martin One-77. It lives in the ultra exclusive car club with the likes of the Lamborghini Reventon, Ferrari FXX and Pagani Zonda R. If you were interested in purchasing one of the 77 cars that will be built by Aston Martin it will cost you a cool 1.8 million dollars.
This may seem to be a high price to pay for a car, however they each of the cars will be uniquely hand built and the value of the car should maintain its self as there are only going to be 77 of them ever produced? So the real question is how much would you pay for a Picasso on wheels?
The One-77 carries a 7.3 liter V12 tightly based on the power plants used in the V12 Vanquish and newer V12 Vantage, but re-engineered completely for this application to produce more than 700 horsepower. The car has the ability to run the 0-100 km/h speed trap in 3.5 seconds and will easily hit the 200mph mark in 7th-gear with plenty rpm left to take you well beyond that limit.
Lamborghini is not ready just yet to discontinue the Gallardo as the Italian automaker has taken a page out of Pagani’s book and have prepared yet another version of their aging entry-level model which was introduced to the world today at the Paris Motor Show. The Gallardo lineup has been the brands most successful model easily eclipsing the total number of Countach that were sold during its 16 year run. In total just under 13,000 Gallardo’s have rolled out of the Bolognese factory since it was introduced in 2003 as a 2004 model.
The last hurrah of the Gallardo has the same V10 5.2-liter engine producing 560 HP (412 kW) and 397 lb-ft (540 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 6-speed e-gear with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
It comes with restyled 19-inch alloy wheels and is available with an optional Style. package that includes high-gloss black paint on the front spoiler and grilles. The final facelift has a slightly different front bumper with triangular shapes while at the back it has received a new engine vent.
Prestige Imports/Lamborghini Miami and Cinemotive Media proudly presents Project Au79. The Short film producers have indicated that the intention of this video was to show of the high quality work that newly developed Cinemotive Films company. Oh and the film also show cases a hand full of exotic rides ranging from Lamborghini Gallardo’s, and Ferrari 430′s, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG’s and of course the hopefully one day famous gold wrapped Aventator. We say soon to be famous as the short films vimeo page indicates that the cars owner is hopeful that the car will become its own character allowing worldwide photographers and filmmakers to position the car in there camera lens.
It is a little to ostentatious for our tastes but the Aventador is a stunning car no matter what the colour or sheen.
The Lamborghini Countach is unquestionably one of the most appealing cars of the 80′s, as it attracted so much attention from a young and uprising car enthusiasts crowd. Why? Because it was fundamentally different from almost everything that was offered at the time, unique, powerful and … far from perfect. The following video, in which a Countach owner talks about the car, takes us back to a time when manufacturers were still allowed to make outrageous machine.
