We’ve only seen the trailer for James and Jeremy’s upcoming DVD, but given that there are a couple Ferraris and a classic Jeep under critical review, we expect it will have the usual Top Gear brilliance we know and love. Jeremy Clarkson and James May will present their opinions on The Worst Car in the History of the World in a brand new, all exclusive Top Gear DVD.
The DVD, Blu-Ray or Digital download comes out on November 19th in the UK and on pirated torrent sites, with official preorders occurring now.
In what I would classify as earth shattering news it was confirmed earlier this morning via Twitter that Season 19 of BBC’s Top Gear will not hit the airwaves until January of 2013. We first heard of the news from Jalopnik.com who was notified that Jeremy Clarkson had stated on a South African radio show that the 3 host will be together during the summer months will be during the Top Gear live events. We had hoped that this was just a miss quote of Clarkson’s or miss reporting by Jalopnik however that would be the first time either of those two had made such a blunder, so we took it a fact with a glimmer of hope .
So last night we lit a commemorative candle and when to bed hoping to wake up to a story retraction article or BBC news reassuring us that this was all just a nasty internet rumor. Unfortunately neither happened and all that we woke up to was a handful of tweets from Clarkson himself confirming that Top Gear will in fact not be returning until January of 2013.
Clarkson’s Tweets from earlier on today
So what or who is to blame? Can you say “2012 London Olympics” or one of Simon Cowell’s reality singing / talent shows? Possibly, but until we hear from the BBC it will be hard to say 100%
I know which one I’d like to watch
The only silver lining will be that Clarkson also confirmed that they will be producing another Christmas special. One can only hope that it is more like Vietnam, and Bolivia and less like the India special. All and all it sounds like a perfect time for a new car show and host to break out on to the scene so if there are any TV executives out there looking hit up my contact information on the about page and we’ll set up a meeting as I am willing, ready and able to discuss my ideas with you.
Top Gear’s Richard Hammond is coming to America, or well he has been to America and made a show and now we will all get to see it. The show is called “Richard Hammond’s Crash Course” which isn’t too over the top RH is it? We have also heard that if the show goes well they may just change the name of the Channel from BBC America to Richard Hammonds BBC.
Alas we can let you know that in the states the show will debut Monday April 16th at 10/9c and will have a great lead in as they will be showing the season premier of Top Gear that was shown 8 weeks ago in the UK. The press people from BBC America are letting us know that Richard will be tasked with the job of Driving; The U.S. Army’s MIA2 Abrams Tank, The Striker, the world’s most powerful fire engine, A two-ton wrecking ball, and a Landfill Compactor. Now doesn’t that sounds like more fun than driving the newest Ferrari, Porsche or Lamborghini.
The show has created 6 episodes in total which will take the show through May sweeps week and will hopefully earn the pour old BBC America channel some ratings so that they don’t turn in to the next O network subsidiary. Here in the great white north BBC Canada will be airing Wednesday April 18th at 8pm, so set your PVR’s and tune in to see if the show is worth the 42 minutes. Until then we will have to settle for the teaser trailer below, I hope you enjoy.
Could we interest you in watching the Top Gear Trailer for the upcoming season # 18 as you drink your breakfast tea and eat your crumpets covered in marmalade? This baby is hot off the press and is the official Top Gear Season 18 BBC Television commercial to promote the upcoming season.
The ad doesn’t mention the start date however we have read reports from MyEpisodes.com episode on will debut on January 29th at 8 pm in the UK. So by 5pm EST on the last Sunday of this month check your friendly torrent site as we are sure that the first episode will be ready for download. Curiously this would put the seasons second episode right up against the Super Bowl which we assume isn’t going to be a problem for those European fans however you won’t find any episode recaps here that Monday morning as we are anticipating having a major case of the Monday’s on Feb 6th.
After watching the 30 spot countless times this season looks to be holding true to the traditional Top gear model and we are looking forward to it.
Last year the Top Gear Trio headed to the birth place of the Baby Jesus and only two of them survived the trip. This year’s special had its teaser trailer posted on YouTube over the weekend and like we reported a couple months back they the boys are off to India this year.
The spin is that their mission this time is to boost the British economy, and it looks like the challenge will once again involve Top Gear hosts picking their own favorite British cars. The Top Gear India Special will be aired on BBC2 on December 28th so check your local Torrent sites to grab it as soon as it comes out.
Have you had a chance to see the newest way Top Gear would like you to spend your Christmas gift giving money. And really why not it look to be an extended version of the show except this one you have to pay for. Have Top Gear Spin off DVD become the British version of the Don Cherry’s Rock’Em Sock’em that has been around since 1989.
See this photo? That’s a Noble, a McLaren MP4-12C and a Lamborghini Aventador being prepped for taping in Lecce, Italy. And what trio of personalities will be piloting these exotic machines? None other than Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond, of course. Top Gear is about to get its Roman and rural Italian groove on.
Today we have found video evidence that confirms the rumors that Top Gear is in fact shooting there holiday special in India. The dynamic trio was spotted in Mumbai yesterday as they were shooting one of their zany challenges. In the below video we see Richard Hammond hamming it up for a camera crew cleaning up the road from what looks like a challenge idea going horribly wrong.
From our point of view the challenge looks like a lunch time food delivery run, and if we had to guess they would be racing the traditional food runners who ride the train in to the densely populated Mumbai. Clarkson Hammond and May have been spotted over the past week driving around in three classic British cars convoy style. Form the reports the cars are a Mini, a Jaguar and a Rolls-Royce.
Just what kind of challenges the producers have got them performing remains to be seen, but if the previous specials serve as any indication, this should be a good one
Oh we are sorry for the terrible music just toss on the mute button as there is no speak to listen to.
Hot off the press a second Top Gear Season 17 commercial spot has been found and posted on YouTube. It is promoting the upcoming season and as usual it looks like it is going to be a good one. The date you want to circle is Sunday June 26th.
Are you like me and read the title to only say “Who is TRANSLOGIC?” Well let me introduce you to them as; We have just had our first date and I now know a little more about the show and it’s host of episode 59 Bradley Hasemeyer. Here is a synopsis of their Lexus LFA supercar episode: The Lexus LFA is a V10 super car that when even priced at nearly $400,000 Lexus still can’t make a profit. The LFA may carry a civilized Lexus badge on its hood, but underneath, its 552 hp V10 engine is always ready to rev your socks off.
I think we have all established the above facts and they are pretty much now the law in which no one dare dispute them. It was only a 10 months ago that the Lexus LFA was formally reviewed by Richard Hammond on Top Gear. Since then the car has made its rounds through the traditional North American media outlets. Each one basically saying the same thing: Blah Blah blah your paying for exclusivity, Blah Blah the rev gauge is digital because an analog gauge can’t keep up with the engine revs , Blah Toyota now has a carbon fiber 3D loom to help weave cylinder shaped objects.
So when I read a tweet announcing that AOL’s Translogic show had a full review the first thing I did was check the post date, assuming it to be a re-tweet of some kind. However much to my surprise it was new just posted the beginning of this week. I’m posting it today because I thought the camera work was well done and is worth a second look as well the piece had a nice flow to it. There were some interesting camera angles where they used suction cup mounts in not so traditional places and the quality was still relatively high, so a possible score for GoPro HD? I’m not one for critiquing presenters mostly because I’m jealous so I won’t drag Bradley Hasemeyer’s name through the mud, but his style was easy to understand as he conveyed all of the traditionally Lexus LFA stats.
What I was disappointed with was the fact that until 7:00pm last night I had never heard of this show/webcast/podcast/or whatever you want to call it. I am a fairly regular automotive connoisseur as I probably only spend a quarter of my day thinking about, writing about, and researching cars and car related news stories. I like to think that I travel in many different Automotive circles to get a true unbiased well rounded view of the industry however I have never ever come across this show. Possibly it is an American vs Canadian Culture gap, as the handful of people living north of the 49th parallel may have been shielded by the marking wizardry of AOL. So though I’d check out the AOLAutos channel on YouTube expecting to see viewing numbers in the FastLaneDaily range.
Once I completed this test only one word could be used to describe how AOLAutos has marketed the show TRANSLOGIC (It’s also not the best name for a show) and that word is simply “Fail” or in two words “Epic Fail”. I am the person who should be telling all my friends through social media or the much more traditionally Chain Letter about this (add your own adjective here) Show. Unfortunately for AOLAutos I’m not because it has taken me 26 months to see one of the shows and it wasn’t even on YouTube. That means that the other 58 episodes that have been created and released since the show debuted in April of 2010.
Sorry Translogic it appears to be over after our first date. It’s not you; you’re great I’m just not looking for another relationship where I have to do all the work all of the time. I have to go now, I just got a text from my friend and her Grandmother is sick and I have to give her a ride to the hospital. I’ll call you though, I promise.
