Have you seen the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupe Black Series Promotional Trailer

Mercedes-AMG presents the high-end super sports car version of the gullwing model, the new SLS AMG Coupe Black Series. The naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 has increased the number of prancing ponies under the hood and is now tuned to output 583 hp however the torque figure remains the same. The Fuel economy figures as well as the cars electronically limited top speed are also unchanged and come in at 16.8 L/100km and 11.7 L/100km (14/20 mpg) city/highway and the top speed will stay at 320 km/h (197 mph).

Other items that have been improved would be the 7-speed AMG Speedshift double clutch transmission, which has been made more direct and sharpened up with quicker gear changes in the new M driving mode. A brand new AMG Adaptive Suspension handles the twisties thanks to twin aluminum wishbones and variable, electronic-controlled dampers. On the exterior the Black Series will offer darkened headlights and taillights, along with AMG carbon-fiber exterior mirrors, and red painted brake calipers.

We are not sure if all of the upgrades to the SLS AMG Coupe warranted the car to have the uber exclusive “Black Series” name plate but it certainly makes us even more interested I driving one.

Hennessey Performance races an Aventador vs. an AMG SLS Roadster down the 1 Mile drag strip

Hennessey Performance put together a Lamborghini Aventador and a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster for doing several one-mile drag races to see who’s the boss. According to the American tuner, both cars were factory stock without any sort of modifications. As you can see from this clip, the SLS AMG Roadster doesn’t stand a chance in front of the Aventador with the launch control, not even when the SLS has a considerable head start.

As a reminder, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster is motivated by a V8 6.3-liter engine that pumps out 563 hp (420 kW / 571 PS) and 470 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque, while the Lamborghini Aventador is powered by a larger V12 6.5-liter engine with 690 hp (515 kW / 700 PS) and 509 lb-ft (690 Nm) of torque. The SLS AMG Roadster sprints to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds, while the Aventador needs just 2.9 seconds.

2013 Aston Martin DB9 Spy Shots

Let’s play a game, a guessing game.

Are you ready?

What has and aggressive front spliter,

A meaner looking wire mesh front grill,

Large Jaguar R inspired hood mounted vents,

New Virage inspired headlights,

A bold and aggressive side profile that showcases a deeply recessed door scallop,

Ground hugging side skirts that match the new aggressive front spliter

And a taller more pronounced rear trunk spoiler?

If you answered the new 2013 Aston Martin DB9 you would be correct.

The new DB9 was spot leaving a competitive testing session which had it pitted against a Ferrari 599 and Mercedes-Bens SLS AMG.  I can only imagine the noise that session would have been producing no wonder they got caught by Motor Authority’s  spy photographers.

Better Luck next time Aston Martin your loss is our gain an hurry up with the development of the new 2013 DB9 as was can’t wait to see the finished product minus the camouflage.
