Watch as the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse is crowned “World’s Fastest Convertible”

The Bugatti Veyron has a new speed record to its name, and evo was present at Ehra-Lessien to witness it. The Bugatti Veyron Vitesse is officially the fastest roadster in the world. The 1184bhp, open-top Grand Sport hit 408.84 km/h. Behind the Vitesse’s wheel was Chinese racing driver Anthony Liu, a 29-year-old who praised the Veyron’s comfort and stability at record-breaking speeds.

The Vitesse’s record takes some of the attention away from the 267.8mphVeyron Super Sport, which has been dropped of its Guinness World Record for fastest production car owing to models sold to the public being limited to 258mph. US rival Hennessey is looking to take advantage, its 1244bhp Venom GT topping 265mph last week and aiming for more than 275mph.

Hennessey Venom GT sort of Beats the Veyron Super Sport’s Top Speed Record

Did you know that the Hennessey Venom GT sort of Beat the Veyron Super Sport in the Production car top speed record. The Texan maker’s car touched 265.7 mph on a two-mile straightaway at the United States Naval Air Station in Lemoore, Calif. Those familiar with Bugatti’s bragging probably know the Veyron Super Sport reached 267.8 mph.

So why did the Venom GT only kind of beat the Veyron’s record? Well it is because they only completed a single pas heading down the runway. You see in order to make an official Top Speed record claim and submit it to the good people of Guinness there are specific criteria that have to be met. In the case of this record run, the top speed must be obtained buy completing the run two times or down and back. The second run must take place with in a hour of the first, in order for it to be official.

And Oh this wasn’t an official Guinness world record certified record attempt either instead it was put on by Top Gear magazine and the cars speed was verified by a VBOX 3i GPSbased data logging system. The data logging device’s manufacturer was also present during the speed run to verify its correct use. Hennessey will only build 29 Venom GT’s, which will sell for $1.2 million — or $1.3 million cheaper than the Bugatti. Check out the run below and let us know in the comments below if you thing that this “Production Car Speed Record” run is legitimate or not.

Watch four exotic cars jockey for the Iron Throne in the ultimate supercar shootout video

Have you heard the joke about what happens when a Bugatti Veyron, a Lamborghini Aventador, a Lexus LFA and a McLaren MP4-12C all pull into a gas station. Ya me neither but I do know what happens when they all show up at an empty runway. Fortunately this time around Motor Trend with their Head to Head Camera crew were on the scene to document what the results where.

Nothing fancy in this video just a straight drag race pining the V8 car against the V10 one. With the winner taking on the V12 Lambo and onto the a 1/4 mile run against the king of the shoot-out, the quad turbo W16 Veyron.

We won’t ruin the ending but there weren’t any Game of Thornes’ type twists and turns in as the three wannabe kings battled for the title.

Undisputed video proof that the Bugatti 16C Galibier is the most Beautify concept car ever

The Bugatti 16C Galibier is not a new concept car in fact it has been hanging around the luxury concept car show room for the past three years. If you haven’t seen it yet then you are in for a real treat today as the car is a prime example of mechanical art. The Galibier’s design concept was to retain the brands stunning body lines developed in the late 20’s early 30’s when the company was at its height of popularity.

Bugatti 16C Galibier Concept - Head on

From the very beginning, Bugatti’s unique constructions and high aesthetic standards have enthralled the public and spawned a virtually boundless passion in those fortunate enough to own such automotive works of art. The Bugatti legacy dates back to the year 1901, when the designs and constructions of Ettore Bugatti and his son Jean achieved a perfect synthesis of art and technology. In the 1920s, Ettore Bugatti’s cars were the embodiment of light construction and unmatched technical aestheticism. Jean Bugatti’s bodywork designs had a lasting impact on the style of the 1930s.

Bugatti 16C Galibier Concept - A nice place to live

The pre-production Galibier promo video touches on the three principals at work during the cars design stage, which were shape, Power, and passion to art. All of which we think have been perfectly captured in the 2.5 million dollar super sedan. When the Bugatti 16C Galibier reaches its final production stage and arrives in showrooms in 2013 it will be the most powerful production sedan ever created. It is expected to use a similar forced induction 8.0-liter W16 engine to that found in the Veyron. Replacing the quad turbochargers for dual superchargers that will keep the engines output in the four figure ranges for horsepower and torque. The Veyron’s eight-speed transmission and all-wheel-drive system will also be co-opted for the Galibier.

When the Bugatti 16C Galibier is equipped with this set up it would be capable of a top speed north of 260 mph and a 0-to-60-mph time of 3.0 seconds or less. Bugatti is expected to build between 500 and 1500 copies of the car over the course of five to six years. I am sure that you will never see one of these cars the road, so we are looking forward to its official reveal at an auto show near you.

Confirmation video, yes it is possible to make a Bugatti Veyron out of A4 paper

The 2 Second Club 0-100 km Shootout

It must be shootout week as we just came across this beauty created by Road and Track.  It is appropriately titled the 2 second club as all three cars can do the 0-100 km run in less than 3 seconds.  So what are the three cars you ask?  They are the 2012 Nissan GT-R Premium, the 2012 Porsche 911 Turbo S and the 2011 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport.  We will spare you the stats as the video will take care of the raw facts.

We can let you know that in comparison to the Motor Trend shootout that we posted earlier this morning the Road and Track one left us feeling cold.  We were disappointed in the fact that they never lined up the 3 cars to run them against each other as each run was done only against the clock.  In a world where seeing is believing it make us think that multiple runs were taken with each car and only the top times were provided to the audience.  As we all know anything can happen on the ¼ mile drag strip and we would have liked to have seen if the results were the same as the posted times.

It also would have surly shown that the Veyron can live up to its price tag as well as shown how the car never stops pulling hard from green light to the finish line.

How to add a Ten Dollar Umbrella Roof to your Million Dollar Veyron

So you have just purchased you the newest million dollar super car the Bugatti Veyron Grandsport.  Now you want to take it out for a drive and why not it is one of the most amazing cars ever built.  The sun is out and they weather network says that it is only a slight chance of rain today so you decide to leave the removable glass roof at home.  You drive into the city to do some shopping and when you come out you notice that it looks like it’s going to rain.

No problem you think as the Bugatti Veyron Grandsport comes with a temporary umbrella roof for such emergencies.  Good thing you have 2 other friends with you as from looking as the below video this is a 3 person job.

My absolute favorite part is at the 1:35 second mark when the guy in the green shirt is pounding the locking mechanism like I hit my TV when it has fussy reception.
